These visas can be applied through SkillSelect. SkillSelect has basically evolved as a major change to how the skilled migration program is managed in Australia.
It ensures that the economic needs of Australia serve as the basis for skilled migration program. It works in association with Australian government and manages the migration applications along with the number of people required under each employment category. Thus, the time for completion of migration formalities has reduced significantly.
It allows the interested migrants to indicate if they are willing to work and live in regional Australia. This helps the employers who are looking for skilled workers in regional areas of Australia and also helps Australian government to settle the migrants.
How SkillSelect Works
SkillSelect is a fundamentally an online service which enables skilled workers and business people to record their details for consideration for a skilled visa through an Expression of Interest (EOI). After this, Australian employers may check the applications and nominate the skilled workers, or Australian Government can also ask them to lodge a visa application.
These rules became effective from July 1, 2012 and thus, anybody who is looking for migration to Australia has to go through EOI and then he/she can lodge a visa application.
